Rhizomes are delivered in bags of 10 000 rhizomes per bag. Prices are ex VAT. Rhizomes are produced in Taunton, Somerset. Transport costs are ex Taunton.

If your intention to use the crops for cane production then you would need to plant at a stocking density of 15 000 to 20 000 per hectare. Hence, you would need up to 2 bags per hectare. A crop planted at 10 000 per hectare is likely to be patchy and not nearly so productive.

Ordering and planting

We can accept orders at any time of year. We generally invoice for 50% deposit which secures the order. We begin lifting rhizomes and grading them in late February each year. All material is cold stored and we can supply from March until late May depending on stock levels. Please order early to avoid disappointment.

We liaise closely with our customers and can dispatct rhizomes as per your isntructions when your soil is ready for planting. We recommend rhizomes should not be planted until the soil temperatures have consistently reached a minimum temperature of 8ᴼC. For good establishment you will need a perfect seed bed with a fine tilth of 150mm (6″) deep. The rhizomes should then be planted at a depth of 4” into pre prepared marble sized soil particles ensuring soil adhesion to the rhizomes.
